capturing light on the face, I think for those whom really like highlighter the best formulation is loose highlight. The shine and gleam that they carry is so pigmented and the tiny flakes of highlighter lay on the skin light and spread over far better to me.
It's also fine to layer highlighters like layering eye shadows, bronze highlighters can top off white base highlighters or powder baked highlighter can be enhanced with loose yellow glitter shadows.
